I have been a full-time freelance journalist since February 2017. In this role, I cover culture for Rolling Stone, environment and health for Outside Magazine, and art for the Santa Fe Reporter. I am based in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
Previously, I worked at Outside, where I held an editorial fellowship. I started as a reporter in eastern Montana before moving to western North Dakota to cover the Bakken oil boom and bust. My other roles at local newspapers included the crime and courts beat in Helena and reporting about the Assiniboine and Sioux Tribes from the Fort Peck Indian Reservation. Before joining Outside, I contributed research and reporting to The New York Times, the Los Angeles Times, and VICE News.
I received a bachelor’s degree in literary studies from The New School and I am originally from North Arlington, New Jersey.
