Eric Killelea

Based in Santa Fe, New Mexico, Eric Killelea has nearly seven years experience writing for magazines and newspapers.

He is a freelance writer for Rolling Stone, where he has covered the Culture beat since March and specializes in explainers and crime and drug issues.

His reporting has been published in Outside Magazine, The New York Times, VICE News, and the Santa Fe Reporter. He has contributed reporting and research to the Los Angeles Times. 

Previously, Killelea was an editorial fellow for Outside and a reporter for newspapers in Montana and North Dakota, where he covered the Bakken shale oil play. During his five years in the badlands, Killelea won several state journalism awards for writing on oil and politics.

Killelea is a graduate of The New School in New York.
